About Me

I have a personal philosophy in life: If somebody else can do something that I’m doing, they should do it. And what I want to do is find things that would represent a unique contribution to the world – the contribution that only I, and my portfolio of talents, can make happen. Those are my priorities in life.

Welcome to my Teaching Portfolio. I have been a New York City Teacher since 2012 but a member of the department of education since 2007. I started as a paraprofessional working in P255Q, a Distinct 75 school. I received my Bachelors of Arts in Deviant Behavior and social control from John Jay College and my Masters of Science in Childhood Education from Queens College. I went on to pursue another Masters of Science from the College of St. Rose in School Leadership. It is my hopes to return to School to gain a Doctorate in Education. I currently a teacher at the Christopher Avenue Community School P.S. 401, located in District 23 on the rise. There all teachers work with and inspire diverse learners in the Brownsville community.

Utilizing the common core standards, school resources, knowledge in the room and outside resources, I am able to assess my students and provide rigors instruction giving students the ability to gain access to knowledge. In my classroom, we use different methodologies for acquiring knowledge. New York State Learning Standards for Mathematics, Science, and Technology (MST) Standards 1, 2 and 6, 7 are considered the process standards and are shared across the three content areas of mathematics, science, and technology. Process skills are vital in understanding the natural phenomena that are science. Scientific discovery is built on such process skills as comparing and contrasting, creating models, using measurement and interpreting data, and making predictions and informed decisions.

Using Multiple pathways to learning helps support each of my students with an opportunity to understand, generate and share ideas, and connect to their everyday lives. I teach my students the skills necessary to generalize, grow and sustain a happy and healthy life. I arrive at school every day striving to foster positive social, emotional and educational skills.

Following the Danielson’s  Framework for Teaching, this website highlights who I am as a teacher, the impact I have on student learning and the impact the students have on me. Please Enjoy!!
